To keep the river clean is no small job and The Friends of Weeki Wachee honored Billy Healis and Eric Orner for organizing “river cleanups” in July, August and September of 2011.
As a result of these volunteer efforts, The Friends of Weeki Wachee received $1,500 from the Walmart Store located at 7305 Broad Street in Brooksville and $5,000 from the Walmart Distribution Center. The best news is that the river was much cleaner because over 140 gallons of debris was removed by these volunteers.
