Friends of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park Celebrates Earth Day 2013
CELEBRATE EARTH DAY AT WEEKI WACHEE SPRINGS STATE PARK
On Saturday, April 20, 2013
Time: 9am-12pm
There is no better way to celebrate Earth Day than joining the Friends of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park in performing trail maintenance and removing invasive species on these environmentally-sensitive lands! Exotic species crowd out native species and cause environmental harm.
Refreshments will be available. Hard-working volunteers receive free park admission for the rest of the day!

January 2013: Invasive Plant Removal at the Park.
You might think that the great invasion of January 26, 2013 was Gasparilla in Tampa, but not so! A team of volunteers invaded Weeki Wachee Springs State Park and cleared invasive plants for as far as the eye could see. Without this team of volunteers the success of this effort would not have been possible.
Special thanks to Irene Patrino (board member) and Annemarie Hammond (Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission) for registering our volunteers; Ben Wilson of Chick-fil-A (board member) for the luscious biscuits and Denise Tenuto (president) for organizing this effort.
